Terms of use

1. Purpose

These Terms of use govern access to and use of the VanSpot Finder website and application.

VanSpot Finder is a service allowing users to view, search, suggest and share information about spots, car parks, places to stop, services useful to van, motorhome or converted vehicle travellers, as well as reviews and related content.

Using VanSpot Finder implies acceptance of these terms.

3. Access to the service

Some app features may be used free of charge. Some features may require a user account.

Users undertake to provide accurate information, keep it up to date and protect the confidentiality of their login details.

VanSpot Finder may change, modify, suspend or interrupt all or part of the service for technical, security, maintenance or improvement reasons.

4. Information available in the application

It may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated or changed without notice.

VanSpot Finder is not an official authorisation to park, camp, bivouac, sleep in a vehicle, access a place or use a service.

Users remain solely responsible for checking applicable rules, signs, municipal orders, private property rules, environmental restrictions, weather conditions, natural risks, access conditions and safety rules on site.

5. User responsibility on site

Users are solely responsible for their decisions, behaviour, vehicle, passengers, pets, waste and respect for places.

Users undertake to comply with applicable laws and regulations, signs, local prohibitions, parking rules, private property, protected natural areas and other users.

6. User contributions

Users may suggest spots, services, reviews, photos, practical information or corrections.

Users warrant that the content they publish is accurate, useful, lawful, respectful and that they have the rights needed to publish it.

It is prohibited to publish in particular:

  • intentionally false, misleading or dangerous information;
  • insulting, hateful, discriminatory, threatening or defamatory content;
  • content infringing privacy or third-party rights;
  • photos of identifiable people without authorisation;
  • content encouraging breach of law or local rules;
  • manifestly private, prohibited, dangerous or sensitive places without clear information;
  • spam, unsolicited advertising or content unrelated to the service.

User-published content is published under the sole responsibility of the user.

7. Moderation and reporting

VanSpot Finder may review, refuse, modify, hide, remove or unpublish any user content when it appears inaccurate, outdated, unlawful, dangerous, abusive, contrary to these terms or harmful to service quality.

Some contributions may be subject to approval before publication.

Any user, owner, site manager, local authority, public authority or concerned third party may report inaccurate, unlawful, outdated, dangerous content or content infringing their rights through the app or at contact@vanspotfinder.com.

8. Account suspension or deletion

VanSpot Finder may suspend or delete a user account, without compensation, in case of breach of these terms, abusive use, fraud, attempted circumvention of moderation or behaviour affecting the service.

9. Intellectual property

The VanSpot Finder name, app, website, interfaces, texts, logos, graphic elements, databases, features and content edited by VanSpot Finder are protected.

User-published content remains the property of its author. By publishing content, users authorise VanSpot Finder to host, store, display, technically adapt, reproduce, correct, translate, moderate and distribute it for operation, improvement, security, promotion and moderation of the service.

If an account is deleted, published contributions may be retained where they are useful for the community operation of the service, provided directly identifying data is removed or anonymised unless a legal obligation requires otherwise.

13. Availability and security

VanSpot Finder endeavours to ensure the proper operation of the service, but does not guarantee continuous, error-free, uninterrupted access or absence of data loss.

The service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, security, overload, outage, force majeure or issues affecting a third-party provider.

14. Limitation of liability

VanSpot Finder may not be held liable for direct or indirect damage resulting in particular from:

  • use of the service or inability to use it;
  • inaccurate, incomplete or outdated information;
  • an accident, incident, fine, material damage or dispute occurring at a place viewed through the app;
  • a decision made by the user based on information available in the service;
  • the behaviour of a user or third party;
  • an interruption, error, bug, data loss or temporary unavailability of the service.
